Krista Li
Krista L. Li (Ph.D) is a sessional instructor in the Department of History and Classics at the University of Alberta. She completed her Ph.D in 2010 at the University of New Brunswick and her dissertation concerned the impact of gender and morality on the shaping and development of Newfoundland's anti-Chinese legislation in 1906. Currently, Krista teaches courses in post-Confederation Canadian history, Canadian women's history, and the history of the Chinese in Canada at the University of Alberta. Her current research interests include creating a database of Chinese migrants to Newfoundland from 1895-1949, exploring the lives of Chinese tea-house waitresses in the Canadian west prior to exclusion, and tracing the career trajectories of Chinese laundrymen in Newfoundland. She is also an active member of the Edmonton chapter of the Association for the Preservation and Learning of the History of WWII in Asia (ALPHA).
