Profiles of Alberta Women
Violet McCully Barss – Supporting Information
Violet McCully Barss’s legacy extends beyond being the first woman municipal leader in Canada, as her dedication to community service touched the lives of many. Within and beyond Delia she was untiringly committed to developing the organizational and administrative skills of women and children through women’s, church, and children’s organizations. Her generous nursing practice brought her admiration and respect and earned herself a place in the community’s history as “Delia’s Florence Nightingale.”
