Laurel Halladay

Laurel Halladay is the AWMP’s academic liaison. She received a Ph.D. in Canadian History from the University of Calgary in 2006, with a specialty in Canadian Military History. Her dissertation focused on the Canadian Military Entertainers of the Second World War. Prior to that, she earned an MA in Canadian History (University of Calgary) studying military entertainers, an MA in Canadian Studies (Carleton University) looking at maternity homes in southern Saskatchewan before World War II, and an BA in Canadian Studies (University of Lethbridge) with a focus on the portrayal of women in French-Canadian literature and the history of pioneer women in western Canada. She has been an Individualized Study Tutor at Athabasca University since 2007, in a variety of courses covering history and women’s/gender studies.
