Lan Chan-Marples

Lan holds an M.Ed. degree (anthropology and education) and B.A. (cultural anthropology) from the University of Alberta. She has been a Research Facilitator at the University of Alberta since 2003. Her history work experiences included being a Museologist at Fort Edmonton Park and a summer position with Historic Sites. More recently she serves on a number of committees or boards that relate to her love of history and heritage - doing research and reading about Chinatown, immigration, multiculturalism, women, Edmonton and other prairie cities and cultures. She is a board of director on the Edmonton Heritage Council since its inception in 2009. Her recent achievements have been initiating the Edmonton Chinatown Conference, History Walking Tour, Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival and documenting the history of Edmonton's Chinatown one building at a time. Last but not least she is delighted to be a member of the Alberta Women's Mapping Project. I love looking for a "heritage" story wherever I am because it is in my blood.
