Martha Kostuch Collection

Martha Susan Kostuch was born July 8, 1949 in Moose Lake, Minnesota and was one of eight children born to Jacqueline F. Schwochert. Martha graduated from the University of Minnesota as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1973. On March 20, 1971 Martha married Thomas Edward Kostuch in Moose Lake, Minnesota and they had four sons, John, Edward, Daniel and Mark Kostuch.

In 1975 Martha and her family moved from Minnesota to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta where she opened Rocky Veterinary Clinic Ltd, it was here that she became involved in environmental issues. Through her life Martha was a member, chair, co-chair, or director of approximately 35 environmental associations and received many awards for her environmental conservation efforts. She was awarded the Premiers Award of Excellence three times, once for her work on the submission 'Target Loading' and for her work on particulate matter and ozone. Martha remained a strong advocate for environmental conservation until her death in April 2008.
