Womonspace Social, Recreational and Educational Society

Womonspace Social, Recreational and Educational Society of Edmonton, Alberta provides opportunities for lesbians to interact and support each other in a safe environment, and contribute to the broader community. Womonspace was established in 1981 by a small group of women who identified a need in the Edmonton lesbian community for women's social events, held in a safe and positive environment. After many months of planning, the first dance was held in September 1981. Since that time Womonspace has grown through volunteerism to hold six dances each year and organize many other social events.
